Well, I’ve finally decided on the contest to hold, and here it is: MY OC'S IN CHARACTER CONTEST!

The winners of this contest are not chosen by artistry alone, but creativity is very important as well. So don’t worry if you’re a new artist! Please consider entering if you have some extra time! Both animal and people artists alike can join!

Alrighty, here’s the info for it:

Theme: Choose one (or more!) of my characters and make a picture, using your own style, that shows some aspect of what makes that character who he/she is.

Here’s how it works:

What exactly do I mean? Well, look at the characters personality traits, life style and events, likes, dislikes, career, things like that. Then pick one or more of these aspects to depict in the picture.

Your entry(s) can be very simple or something very complex and detailed, or anything in between. It can be a full fledged scene with 15 characters in it, or a sketchy portrait shot of one, its up to you! Be creative and have fun with it!

Rules:
• The picture must be made completely by you; not traced with modifications, not made with a pre-made body like in the ' poser program' or a doll base, not made from a manipulated photo, etc.
• It must be of one or more of my original characters who are listed below.
• No anthros or switching of the character’s species is allowed (ex. drawing a human character as a dog)
• No drawing a character out of character (OCC), for example- drawing a kind-hearted, sweet character that never gets mad screaming at someone and being a total jerk. (That’s the opposite of the point of this contest, lol).
• Oh and just for safety I’ll mention that no R-rated pictures are allowed or anything fowl like that. The one extreme thing I will allow though, is blood and gore , considering a couple of my chars are killers and someone might want to draw them with a victim or something.

When deciding which char(s) to draw, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take the time to actually look over the characters profile page to get a good idea of what the character is like!

Possible Questions?

Can I have more then one submission?

Answer: Yes! You can make up to 4 entries if you like! However, you are still only eligible for winning one place. (i.e- if you get enough votes on your entries to win more then one place, you’ll only win the higher place)

Do I have to be a member of DA to enter the contest?

Answer: Nope! You can simply email me your entry if your not a member of DA.

What if my submissions late?

Answer: Hey better late then never! I don’t want a picture you did being thrown away because its not quite done and the deadlines arrived. However you won’t be eligible for 1st place, and also, being late means you wont have as much time as the others for people to vote for your picture. So try hard to get it in on time!

How the voting will work: After the deadline I will display all of the submissions to the public for voting. Anyone can vote, but only for two entrys; one for which entry you think LOOKS the best artistically; Which one draws your eyes to it? This is where you look at the artist’s drawing ability level and style, aesthetic values, stuff like that.

And the second vote is for the picture that you think is the most CREATIVE; which picture has a unique idea to it? Which is the most clever, funny, deep, or interesting to you? Which gets really detailed into a characters life? What’s going on in the picture? Consider questions like these. This is where the artist’s creativity and originality come into play.

The Winners: After choosing your two favorite pictures, one for artistry, and one for creativity, email me or note me through DA your votes. For example write: “For artistry I vote for Sarahs picture. For creativity I vote for Bob’s picture.” Please don’t just vote for someone b/c it’s a friend of yours. Also, contestants are encouraged to vote, but not for themselves. If a voter truly thinks that one entry is the best in both categories, you may vote for it in both. Also, my votes count for double points for each since I’m the maker of this contest, and if there are any ties in the final total votes, I will have non-contestant friends help me choose between them. The pictures with the most votes total at the end wins!

THE PRIZES!!!

Here's what your all here for, right? The winners can choose any character(s) they want for me to draw for the art prizes; an original one of their own, one from a movie, from an anime, a real life person, etc. Just know I wont draw any vulgar pictures. lol.

1st place-

1. An art request from me of two characters (full body) with a detailed background.
2. A 3-month DA Subscription
3. An art request from of 1-2 characters with a background.


2nd place-

1. An art request from me of one character (full body), with a simple background

1. An art request by me of a portrait shot of a character, with a simple background.


Along with these four places, I will also be picking out one picture personally, that I feel the artist has put a lot of effort and thought into. It won’t be based specifically on artistry or creativity really; but the overall efforts and results the artist has made in the entry. This artists will win a portrait picture of a character.

This contest will last from Jan. 13th - April 19th

Voting will be open from Apr. 20th - May 4th

A FINAL NOTE: When considering a character, PLEASE PLEASE read the characters physical description to get a good idea of their looks and designs AND look at the ‘extra pics’ for that character. The picture on a character’s main page is often not the best or newest one of him/her, and looking at the other pics as well will help give you a much better idea of what the character looks like, or at least give you more references to help you with your entry!
